Nydia has 3 AISD students, Akins HS, Small MS & a Blazier Bluejay. Her 2nd grader has been navigating the Dual Language program at Blazier and she can't wait to grow and support the Blueray community Hablando Espanol. She is an active substitute in AISD with her main focus being to support Teachers and students. What motivates her to be hands-on at our AISD schools is the need to grow and support our communities and to continue to make our schools a fun learning experience. Nydia is super excited to give love & support to our Blazier community. 

Katie was born and raised in Central Austin. She has three adult age daughters and now a proud Blazier parent with a son in second grade. She enjoys traveling with family, crafting, sports, and participating in school activities. Katie served as a Room Parent Volunteer since joining Blazier & is excited to serve the Blazier Community as a PTA Board member.

Katie moved to Austin from the Chicago suburbs in 2021 and this is her second year on the PTA. She has a son in second grade and a daughter in kindergarten. She is super passionate about special education as well as staff appreciation. She enjoys running, watching movies, and playing board games with her family.

Paty is an Assistant Professor in the Bilingual Bicultural Education program at the University of Texas at Austin. She centers spoken, written, and artistic testimonios of Latinx bilingual students, pre-service teachers, and their families. One of her commitments involves uplifting Latinx voices, by creating spaces and times for seeing and hearing multiple perspectives. In order to do this, Paty considers the importance of meaningful and long-term relationships through arts-based research approaches. Before becoming a professor, Paty was an bilingual elementary school teacher in Denver, Colorado for seven years. She taught in the district where she learned English herself as a young child. Her heart, love, and passion is equitable and creative bilingual education for the students and families at Blazier, AISD and Austin.

My name is Angelica and my son is a 5th grader at Blazier. We love Blazier!  My husband and I are both active volunteers at the school. We have been PTA members for 6 years and I have served as both PTA Secretary and Parliamentarian.

Shannon is the mom of two Blazier Blue Jays (one at Primary and one at Intermediate) plus a Future Blue Jay!  She is a Native Austinite, has loved being a part of the Blazier community, and is excited to enter this new role of communications.  Shannon feels strongly about clear and timely communication with families regarding Blazier and PTA happenings and hopes to build a sense of belonging among families through informed involvement in our school community.

Megan is a mama to a rising 1st grade Blue Jay this year. Her family enjoys outside time with their two dogs and big family parties. She works for a tech startup that teaches K-12 students how to code and believes that computer science is key to helping students become more successful in reading and logical thinking. She is excited to share her passion with the PTA by being their first Webmaster!

Jeannie is married with boys in third and fifth grades at Blazier. She also has a daughter in college. She is a registered nurse and she is excited to support the school this year!

Liz has two sons at Blazier-one is a rising 1st grader and the other is a rising 4th grader. She is a huge fan of Blazier Elementary and proudly started serving the PTA as the chair of the healthy lifestyles committee in the 2022-2023 school year. Liz works in behavioral health at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and is deeply passionate about supporting the health of youth and families. Liz is a native of Washington, DC, but got to Texas as soon as she could.
