What events is the PTA responsible for?
Blazier PTA raises funds to provide activities, supplies and events for our students, and for school and classroom needs. We also try to create community within our school. Our PTA has been coordinating fun events for the school including:
Freaky Friday Dance
Pictures with Santa
Blazier Bazaar
Valentine’s dance
Appreciation to School Staff
And much, much more!
Why should I join?
Join for your child! It's all about them—enhancing their experience and education at Blazier. The school can only do so much with the funds it has so we supplement, enhance and advocate where necessary.
How do I join, and what is the cost? What happens to our dues?
You can join online through our Membership form or at joinpta.org. Membership is $10 per year. We must pay national and state dues, with the rest directly supporting our mission.
May I attend PTA events if I don't join?
Yes. While we hope you do join the PTA, all are welcome. PTA membership provides benefits throughout the year that we hope you will use, including discounts on select services and products.
Do I have to come to school to volunteer?
Not necessarily, there are tasks you can do at home to help. (Examples: putting packets together, coordinating projects by making calls, etc.)
Can I only volunteer once in a while without being pressured to volunteer for future events?
Absolutely! You can volunteer as much or as little as you desire. We are thankful for your 5 minutes of your time. We may ask you to volunteer for another event, but it's perfectly OK to say “No”. If everyone does a little, it goes a long way.
When and where are the meetings? What happens there?
We meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. through Zoom. Nonmembers may attend but are unable to vote on any issues or questions. This is the time that the leaders come together to share their plans, ideas, and questions. Leaders present his/her business as it comes to active and solicits questions and/or concerns from the membership. Votes are called upon and executed as required to proceed in our slated business.
Can I volunteer even if I am unable to come to the meetings?
Yes, but we do ask you to attend the meetings when possible. Attendance numbers are needed in order to make decisions and proceed with business. Your input is necessary to our mission.
How does the PTA raise money? What do you do with the funds?
Our money comes from membership, fundraisers, and donations from families and local businesses. All of our funds are used to support the students, teachers, and staff at Blazier Elementary. We achieve this through sponsoring school activities, hosting school wide events, such as the Freaky Friday Halloween Dance and activity fee assistance.
How do I contact you with questions?
You can visit our Contact page right now. You can also find us through our Facebook page or at hello@blazierpta.org.
What is PTA, Anyway?
The PTA exists to identify the needs of all students, the school, its families and community. Together we help provide each student a safe environment with the best teachers, tools and resources to meet those needs, unlocking success in every child.
